Under supervision performs social or health service work of routine difficulty in providing in-home services, transportation services, or delivering "meals on wheels" to eligible clients.

Typical Duties

(Illustrative Only)

• Delivery of noontime meal to qualifying seniors in our community Monday through Friday
• Complete safety check and report unusual circumstances or problems observed with clients
• Assist kitchen staff in light meal preparation, packaging of meals, and the cleaning and sanitation of meal equipment
• Ensure safety of food during meal delivery
• Load and unload meals and meal equipment in vehicle for delivery
• Care and maintenance of assigned vehicle(s)
• Record keeping
• Reports unusual circumstances or problems observed with clients
• May handle donations
• May provide social and emotional support and services as an advocate for recognized client needs

Minimum Qualifications

One year experience in assigned area; OR

Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Final job offer will be contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Meals on Wheels Drivers must have Food handler's certificate.

PREFERENCE: Familiarity with Williams and the surrounding area.

This position is safety sensitive.

This position is non-exempt from overtime.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Working knowledge of:

• Food safety and snatiation guidelines
• Needs and problems of disabled, elderly and low-income individuals
• Available community services
• Geriatrics
• Knowledge of health codes relating to assigned area
• Safe driving techniques, including traffic and safety rules
• Routine vehicle maintenance
• Geographic area in and around Williams, AZ

Skill in:

• Record keeping
• Proper lifting techniques
• Operating a vehicle in adverse weather conditions

Ability to:

• Effectively handle lifting of up to fifty pounds
• Maintain patience in adverse situations
• Demonstrate emotional maturity
• React to client crises by calling 9-1-1, Adult Protective Services or case manager as required by the situation
• Handle and record cash and check donations
• Apply basic safety methods for staff and client
• Recognize and report patient's health status
• Work with culturally diverse population
• Recognize hazardous driving conditions
• Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public
• Follow written and verbal instructions
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
