Teacher Program Specialist
The Teacher Program Specialist (TPS) will deliver professional development electives for secondary school teachers traveling to Washington, D.C. with their students. The TPS will lead site visits to historic sites, museums and national parks, and will share background information and instructional strategies for connecting those sites to current events. In addition, a TPS will serve in various nonacademic but customer facing roles throughout the week to provide excellent customer experience.
A successful TPS will conduct historical interpretation, lead discussion groups, and be an engaging storyteller, and work well with diverse communities of adults. The candidate will be passionate about US history – particularly the colonial and Civil War eras -- and have an in-depth knowledge of the greater Washington D.C. area.
This full-time position has a non-traditional work schedule, with evening and weekend hours required. Out-of-town day-trips to Williamsburg, Philadelphia, Gettysburg and/or other locations within a 2.5 hour drive of the Washington, DC may take place on a weekly basis.
