What You’ll Do

The Director of Loss Prevention and Workplace Safety is responsible for managing REEF’s global claims reduction initiatives and workplace safety program for all of REEF’s business units. He/she will actively engage with relevant business leaders to develop and maintain strong loss control and safety programs, compliant with all required laws and statutes, to promote a culture of safe working practices across the organization. He/she will lead/coordinate with the business incident investigations to determine root causes and examine any needs to refine current safety and other operational practices. This role will also analyze incident/claims data and trends, legal matters, etc. and liaise with operations, legal and other business stakeholders to reduce both incident/claims frequency and severity. This role will convey the state of our overall loss prevention and workplace safety programs to external stakeholders, including insurers and regulatory agencies, incorporating any feedback working with applicable government agencies and industry associations to ensure that legal and regulatory actions take into account the occupational circumstances.

In addition:

• Ensure all loss prevention practices, policies and procedures are infused with an unwavering focus on a safe working environment
• Verify that Reef’s various verticals implement their claims prevention and reduction initiatives/policies, and that they are compliant with relevant rules, regulations and industry best practices 
• Ensures that new use cases incorporate the company’s claims and loss prevention/reduction policies and practices, and that they are implemented upon start up
• This position will strive to establish a positive working relationship between Risk management and key stakeholders in each business vertical
• Prepare and deliver business updates, performance metrics, project status reports and other complex information in various formats, including verbal, written, presentation, etc. Tailor the information to the appropriate audience(s), ranging from senior executives to Associates
• Lead the data intelligence and visualization efforts to identify key performance/risk indicators, exception reporting, or other analysis that are used to drive predictive and proactive loss prevention strategy and execution
• Will act as company representative to industry associations and may sit on relevant committees
• May represent the company as a safety expert in litigation
• Monitors internal and external safety incident reports including accidents personal injury, near-misses, and other compliance matters, and makes suggestions for improvement
• Coordinates feedback and monitors corrective action status, internal and external audit and other review matters

What We Want From You:

• Bachelor’s Degree required in accounting/finance, risk management, occupational health and safety, or related field
• A minimum of 10 years or more in a combination of loss control & prevention and workplace safety experience
• Real Estate, Hospitality and/or Retail Industry experience preferred but not required
• Ability to juggle multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced dynamic, customer service-oriented environment, both collaborating as a team and working independently
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
• Excellent written and oral communication/presentation skills, including ability to summarize complex issues succinctly for a wide range of constituents
• Strong MS Office 365 skills required, other financial systems and audit software knowledge preferred
