The Director of Marketing and Communications assumes leadership responsibility for the overall management and direction of the University’s communication functions by providing direction, and supervision to develop and implement long and short-term strategies to ensure continued enrollment growth and by developing and implementing a strategic public/community relations plan to enhance the University’s image and facilitate internal and external communications. The Director of Marketing Communications plays a vital role in ensuring the fulfillment of the Enrollment Management’s growth strategy as set by the Vice President of Institutional Growth and Innovation.
Communications
  • Utilizes an analytical, empirical, data-driven approach to facilitate a culture of evidence-based enrollment management.
  • Assists in the development and integration of communications strategy to support strategic marketing efforts.
  • Coordinates digital and print publications to strategically communicate information to internal and external audiences.
Public Relations
  • Cultivates relationships with local and regional media to generate publicity with media locally and regionally.
  • Disseminates crisis communications plan for the University.
  • Establishes and coordinates procedures for internal/external communications between media and University personnel.
Social Media
  • Optimizes the use of technology to maximize enrollment management outcomes.
  • Manages social media strategy and implementation to achieve communications and enrollment objectives across multiple platforms and channels.
Marketing
  • Assists with the development, implementation, and evaluation of communication and marketing strategies to attract and retain students.
  • Coordinates the preparation of printed materials and advertising campaigns.
Planning
  • Participates in the strategic and operational planning efforts of the University.
  • Manages the execution of agreed-upon planning initiatives.
  • Creates regular progress reports relating to planning initiatives.
Compliance
  • Maintains current knowledge with regard to legal and regulatory requirements of the institution.
  • Ensures that required actions are taken in a timely manner to ensure institutional compliance.
Fiscal Oversight
  • Responsibly stewards assigned budgets in service of University’s vision and mission.
  • Participates at the executive level in the budgeting and planning process used to establish the University’s budget and forecasts.
Personnel Management
  • Provides supervision of assigned staff and/or departments.
  • Ensures the effective evaluation of assigned staff and/or departments.
  • Plans for and facilitate ongoing development of assigned staff and/or departments.
Project Management
  • Ensures a systematic method of completing assigned projects within agreed-upon time frames.
  • Revises, updates, and reports project modifications to the appropriate stakeholders.
Reporting
  • Identifies, maintains, and interprets key metrics required to adequately track effectiveness.
  • Ensures distribution of required information to appropriate constituencies in a timely and accurate basis.
Miscellaneous
  • Performs additional tasks as needed and/or requested.
  • Participates in functions and activities that advance the mission, values and vision of the institution.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in related field or 10 years of relevant experience
  • 3 years of progressive leadership experience
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master degree in related field
  • 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a related role
  • Higher education industry experience
