Cleveland-Cliffs is currently recruiting upcoming college graduates for entry-level Associate Electrical Engineer positions at our Burns Harbor facility in Burns Harbor, IN.

One of the missions of Cleveland-Cliffs Steel is to utilize the latest technological advances available in the steel industry. This mission affords our engineers countless unique opportunities to apply the knowledge and skills they learned during their undergraduate studies, including automation, advanced electrical control techniques, and power distribution, as well as any of the other disciplines within electrical engineering and electrical engineering technology. The technologies that are employed today span 50 years. The range of knowledge required therefore is broad. Relay logic through every generation of solid state up to the most current control schemes. Likewise, this mission also affords the Company the continuous need to recruit and hire the best and brightest electrical engineers available.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Recommend and/or perform predictive, preventative, and emergency maintenance of equipment
  • Research, design, evaluate, install, modernize, re-design, operate, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment
  • Resolve equipment malfunctions, including those requiring scheduled shutdowns or breakdown action
  • Plan, schedule, and cost control of maintenance/engineering projects
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
  • Analyze current operating performance and standard operating procedures and making recommendations for improvement and various other duties as needed to support the business
  • Potentially supervise a crew of hourly maintenance employees
  • Rotating shift work may be required according to business needs
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or other related technical degrees

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience or internship/co-op in manufacturing
