Cleveland Area Hospital is Hiring a RN Near Cleveland, OK

POSITION SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to provide general nursing care and leadership, working collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary team members. The R.N. will promote and restore patient’s health as they assess, plan, implement, delegate, evaluate, document and coordinate comprehensive professional through the use of the nursing process for patients of all ages, gender, cultures and background by providing physical and psycho-social support to patient, friends and families.

The R.N. will plan for the provision of patient care including the development, modification and implementation of the plan of care in order to deliver efficient, effective and quality patient care with oversite of other personnel which includes but not limited to Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants.

The R.N. must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care and is expected to adhere to and abide by policies of the facility and the rules and regulations set forth by the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act.

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Patient Duties:
  1. Assess, plan, direct and evaluated total nursing care.
  2. Uses good communication skills to interact with patients, families, and team members.
  3. Assist Case Management by being a patient advocate, resource, and contact person for patients.
  4. Provides basic education information to patients and family, focusing on self-care appropriate to their age and identified learning considerations and needs.
  5. Performs assessment data collection and documents subjective data (chief complaint, allergies, etc.) and objective data (vital signs, weight, etc.). Reviews basic health history information for patients focusing on environmental, self-care and discharge planning.
  6. Administers medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly using the 7 patient rights, accurate patient identification and performs lab/diagnostic testing as ordered by the provider and reports all critical lab values immediately.
  7. Demonstrates an ability to remain calm, perform effectively and professionally during peak periods of activity and emergency situations.
  8. Assists provider with examination and procedures per request.
  9. Utilizes universal precautions in obtaining specimens (venipuncture, cultures, etc.) and in delivery of patient care.
  10. Other duties as required.
  • Team Duties:
  1. Evaluates the effectiveness of the care given by the interdisciplinary care team and identifies problems and guides team members to their solution.
  2. Assigns care to team members in accordance with patient needs, staff capabilities and qualifications.
  3. Participates in training, orientation, competency assessment and education of new employees.
  4. Communicates clearly, concisely, and accurately, creating a working climate that promotes growth and job satisfaction of personnel.
  5. Uses effective coaching, positive reinforcement, and other methods to enhance team performance.
  6. Serves as a resource person to other staff members.
  7. Arrives on time, works scheduled shifts and badges in and out appropriately.
  8. Other duties as required.
  • Administrative Duties:
  1. Adhere to all policies of the organization, including (but not limited to) job description, certification/licensure requirements, mission statement, HIPAA, confidentiality standards and patient’s rights.
  2. Actively engage and stay up to date with organization’s communications and directives.
  3. Acts in a professional manner, reflecting the mission of Cleveland Area Hospital and demonstrates compliance with all policy, procedures, and state/federal regulations.
  4. Demonstrates ongoing service excellence skills.
  5. Maintains economical and efficient nursing care in a clean and safe environment.
  6. Participates in performance improvement activities as required.
  7. Demonstrates ongoing understanding and supports corporate strategic initiatives.
  8. Participates in meeting, education and demonstrates genuine desire to develop strategies for improved operation for a higher level of patient care.
  9. Assist Director of Nursing/Chief Nursing Officer in evaluating the performance of team members for performance appraisals.
  10. Communicates effectively with DON/CNO any problems.
  11. Reviews staffing to ensure an adequate number of qualified staff to provide quality care to patients.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Current R.N. license recognized and in good standing with the Oklahoma Board of Nursing 
  • BLS
  • ACLS – Current or within 6 months of hire
  • PALS – Current or within 6 months of hire
  • Able to make decisions under pressure.
  • Able to handle multiple priorities

EXPERIENCE:

  • One year preferred

RESPONSIBILITY FOR CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION:

This position could have access to patient confidential records and must comply with HIPAA regulations as well as Cleveland Area Hospital Policies.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Primarily standing, sometimes sitting. Utilize good hearing, vocal and visual skills. Exposure to toxic, chemicals and detergents. Exposure to moving mechanical parts. Exposure to potential electrical shock. Exposure to x-ray/electromagnetic energy. Exposure to communicable diseases. Exposure to blood and/or body fluids. Exposure to latex rubber. May be exposed to communicable diseases.
