In this role, you will be responsible for updating cases live as the Judge goes through the court docket. Case types handled in this position may include: Felony, County Criminal, Juvenile, Domestic Violence and Traffic Infractions.

What is a courtroom clerk?A Courtroom Administrator plays an integral part of our courtroom team by accurately preparing the official record of the hearing's events in a fast-paced environment. They work closely with elected judges, bailiffs, defense attorneys, prosecuting attorneys, interpreters and other criminal justice partners.

This position is eligible for a one dollar per hour stipend which has already been added to the salary advertised. The one dollar per hour stipend will be awarded upon completion of the introductory period. The stipend will no longer apply should the employee transfer out of this position.

Examples of Essential Functions

  • Accurately record details of court proceedings entering items into database such as: court proceedings notes, hearing information and outcomes, trial proceedings and outcomes, bail bonds, motions, dispositions, parties involve, evidence, obligations, judgment, and sentence information.
  • Function as procedural and operational liaison, in the courtroom, between Judges, attorneys and the public.
  • Review all case files and database entries for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform in-office tasks that may include compiling data, distribution of calendars, responding to general inquiries, reviewing and updating of reports, answering phones, and other assignments as required.
  • Maintain flexibility and professionalism when fulfilling responsibilities for assigned courtroom and calendars.
  • Act as a team player by sharing knowledge and information on courtroom processes and procedures.
  • Handle multiple tasks, including listening, writing, scheduling court dates, answering questions, entering data, and monitoring the flow and electronic record of the court proceedings.
  • Cover all types of high-volume, fast-paced courtrooms either independently or as a team.
  • Adjust and maintain working knowledge of changing technology.

Typical Qualifications

Associate’s degree, supplemented by five (5) years of recent and relevant experience; in lieu of an Associate’s degree, two (2) years of direct work experience and five (5) years of supplemental work experience is required; must demonstrate the ability to accurately apply acute attention to detail in maintenance of detailed data, preferably in an automated systems environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Once qualified, deputization may be required to perform the assigned function.

*This is a mandatory testing position, successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen & physical examination (if applicable) is required prior to employment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,785.19 - $49,117.65 per year
