Job SummaryUnder the direction of the EMS Captains and full-time Paramedics, this position responds to emergency calls and performs tasks in support of Clear Creek EMS operations.

Principal Job DutiesAmbulance Service Administration
  • Assist with all Emergency Medical Services (EMS) activities, including daily activities including: equipment repair, replacement, maintenance, and acquisition; training; personnel; equipment and supply maintenance.
  • Assist with preparation of operational plans and grants as directed by the EMS Captain.
  • Assist with the timely and accurate processing of plans and grants, and other various reports.
  • Assist in maintaining liaisons with other community emergency service organizations and local governments.
  • Attends staff meetings. Attends other meetings as necessary.
  • Assist with EMS certification requirements, inoculations and testing.
  • Assist with the instruction and/or coordination of agency and community education and training, attends mandatory trainings.
  • Assist with Community Outreach activities
  • Assist with state and federal regulation compliance issues.
  • Participate in and help with Quality Improvement Program reviews.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Hourly Average 56 hours worked per week. Work under the 48/96 Schedule Work (approximately 5-6 forty-eight hour shifts per month) with mandatory overtime (varies by week). Some duty schedule flexibility required.
Emergency Medical Response
  • Respond to emergency calls as needed within the Clear Creek Emergency Services District.
  • Respond for mutual aid per mutual aid agreements.
  • Provide emergency medical care to the sick and injured.
  • Maintain eligibility to participate in Medicare and state health care programs pursuant to the US Social Security Act, or as otherwise provided by law, including Office of Inspector General regulations; and report any action suspending or terminating eligibility immediately to the EMS Captains.
  • Follow all regulations as identified in the County Personnel Policies and Departmental Standard Operating Guidelines.
  • Work to promote a total team-oriented environment with all members and other agencies by demonstrating an ability to work with others.
  • Implement Incident Command System in appropriate emergency situations.
  • Care for and maintain equipment.
  • Have a working knowledge of ambulance contents & equipment.
  • Maintain ambulance readiness.
  • Report and document problems on appropriate forms.
  • Maintain appropriate level of physical fitness.
  • Maintain certifications required by State of Colorado, Physician Advisor, and CCEMS.
  • Complete operational chores, reports and other duties by the end of shift.
EducationMINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:GED or High School Diploma
Certifications & Licences
  • State of Colorado EMT Certification without restrictions
  • CPR (Healthcare Provider level)
  • PEPP Certification preferred, required within one year of hire
  • ICS 100, 200, 300, 700 and 800 preferred, required within one year of hire
  • IV certification

  • Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, and diseases. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.

  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, and institutions.

Necessary Special Requirements
  • Colorado Motor Vehicle Driver's License without restriction or revocation
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must pass background check: Criminal and Traffic

  • Must be eligible to be supervised by the Physician Advisor
  • Must not be excluded from participation in Medicare and state health care programs as provided in the US Social Security Act, 42 USCA 1320a-7, or as otherwise provided by law, at the time of hire and at all times thereafter

Physical Requirements And Work EnvironmentAdministrative: Works in office environment. Essential functions include oral comprehension, written comprehension, memorization, and mathematical reasoning. Employee must be able to sit for long periods, grasp, push, pull, and able lift and carry 10 to 30 pounds. Able to operate a variety of office equipment. Clear vision at 20 inches or less and up to 20 feet or more, use of corrective eyewear is acceptable.
EMS: Very heavy physical demands including lifting of patients. Must be able to frequently lift and carry at least 50% of 250 lb. load (patient & stretcher) and medium to heavy weight equipment. Essential functions include frequent walking, bending, crouching, squatting, long periods of standing, pushing and pulling of patients and equipment. Additionally, occasional sitting, climbing, running, kneeling, and crawling may be required. Must be able to remain alert during 24-hour shifts including driving at any time during a shift. Must have hearing adequate to assess lung sounds and vital signs in loud environments. Vision must be sufficient for legal driving day or night. Must possess manual dexterity required to perform all of the medical treatment skills required of this position with little or no assistance.
Possible Health Risks Specific To This PositionThis position has been determined to be an EXTREME exposure risk to "biohazards" associated with blood-borne pathogens HIV (aids), HAV (Hepatitis A) virus, HBV (hepatitis B) virus, and air-borne transmissions of TB (tuberculosis). Members are advised that exposure to a "biohazard" may result in severe illness or death. Members are required by Department policy to use protective equipment and clothing. Inoculation may be required to prevent or treat exposures to "biohazards". The County provides inoculation of HAV, HBV, (Testing for TB) Chickenpox, Tdap (Tetanus, Diptheria, & Pertussis), Meningococcal, MMR (Measles, Mumps & Rubella), and Influenza. Some vaccinations are only required once in a life time, and you may be required to show documentation of the vaccine. Employees who decline to be vaccinated will need to sign a Declination
