Description:

CleanJoule has an immediate opening for an on-site Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist. The employee will plan, administer, and supervise an ongoing environmental, health and safety program to ensure safe and healthy working conditions in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), PSM related programs, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations including CAA, CWA, DOT, RCRA, CERCCA, and IATA.

Will communicate with federal, state, and local safety, health and environmental regulatory agencies concerning compliance and emerging standards. Develop a safety minded culture with a mind-set focused on prevention.

Organizes, performs, and develops teams to establish written performance standards, goals and objectives. Plans and conducts evaluations of potentially hazardous conditions, including exposure monitoring and develops and assists in implementing control measures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. Participates and performs review of process hazard analyses for equipment and processes as required. Prepares reports for submission that identify the potential hazard(s) and/or program discrepancies found and provide recommendations for control and compliance. Participates in the development of strategies, policies, and procedures. Conducts regular company safety meetings and safety committee meetings. Participates in the development and delivery of safety training for employees, contractors and customers as required.

Conducts periodic safety and health inspections and audits; responds to accidents or incidents, which may include emergency response to hazardous substance releases, fires, injuries, and other mishaps. Participates in or leads in the conduct of accident/incident investigations.

Manage and process all workers compensation cases, track, determine root causes, form/implement preventive strategies. Evaluate conditions affecting environmental health, conduct investigations of all accidents, near misses, and potential conditions and implement programs to reduce risk through company training and guidance.

Supervise and manage the accumulation and disposal of excess chemicals and hazardous waste, ensure waste management practices are in compliance with EPA, and State of Utah Department of Environmental Quality standards. Supervise the purchase of inventory, issuance and maintenance of safety equipment and supplies.

Ensure compliance with the following state and federal statues as applicable to company operations and facilities; Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water ACT (CWA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Health & Safety Act (OSHA), Respirator Fit-Testing Certification, 40 Hours HAZWOPER Certification, and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager Certification.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

· Minimum bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Occupational Safety or closely related field, with three (3) years of direct experience implementing safety and health or process safety management programs. Significant experience with chemicals and chemical processes is preferred.

· Prior experience and / or knowledge of handling flammable chemicals is preferred.

· Have excellent organization, learning and teaching skills required to work in teams.

· Proficiently communicate and understand (read and write) scientific / regulatory based work.

· Strong focus on safety and a desire towards continuous improvement and risk mitigation.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.

· Must have excellent presentation skills, strong documentation, technical writing skills, and be able to apply relevant scientific principles and practices.

· Must be able to communicate both technical and non-technical information clearly and concisely across all levels of the organization.

· Able to partner, facilitate, and collaborate with employees and managers across the organization.

· Must be initiative-taking.

Physical Demands:

Frequent lifting and moving of items up to 50 pounds, bending, reaching above shoulder level, climbing stairs, pulling, prolonged standing or sitting may be required. Must have safe work habits and perform all duties in accordance with company safety policies. Personal protective equipment is provided by the company and its use is mandatory.
