POSITION SUMMARY:
Position provides strategic direction of all technical operations and end user support initiatives for Clayton County Public Schools. Directs the daily technical operations and support of critical systems supporting instructional initiatives, student achievement, and business continuity. This position reports to the Chief of Technology.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As assigned, assists in defining hardware and software needs, working with other technology support staff members or project teams, as needed. Provides leadership for the assembly and coordination of a software review group comprised of teachers, curriculum specialists and administrators responsible for the selection of appropriate software for both instructional and administrative applications.
Assists the district’s Executive Director of Technology in the evaluation, selection, bidding and purchasing of computers, networking equipment, software and related technology. Analyzes feedback from users to gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of current systems and to identify future needs.
Coordinates the installation, service and repair of computers, networking equipment and software. Monitors service, repair and other operability functions to ensure the district’s processes are effective and efficient to meet the strategic goals of Clayton County Public Schools.
Direct the planning, development, budgeting and support for the optimization of the district network infrastructure (LAN/WAN), desktop hardware, software, and school system communication systems. Manage the E-Rate Application Process for District.
Ensure the integrity of the information asset; that disaster recovery plans are maintained, communicated and periodically tested; and that technical risks are managed.
Serves as a member of the district technology committee to ensure the district’s needs are appropriately prioritized and addressed. All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or a Technical/Associate’s degree in computer science or a related field, plus at least one industry –related certification (i.e., Cisco, A , Microsoft, etc.)
Minimum of five (5) years professional experience related to enterprise class technical operations. Extensive experience in Data Center Operations, network communications, network systems, and technical support operations.
Position has primary responsibility for the technical operations and support of Clayton County Public Schools impacting all Instruction and Operation functions.

Multifaceted: Supervisor is available on a limited time basis; independent judgment is required to review and approve major recommendations.
Requires developing and maintaining ongoing internal relationships involving difficult, formal negotiations.

Has responsibility for providing direction and guidance to CCPS technical operations staff.
Applies, recommends, and implements highly advanced technology concepts to improve organization- wide efficiency and effectiveness and approves technology solutions to be used throughout CCPS.
Responsibility for the Welfare of Others: Daily
Normal office environment. Requires occasional visits to district administrative facilities and schools.

Requires repeated reaching by extending hands(s) and/or arms(s) in any direction. Frequently requires travel to district schools and departments. Intermittent walking is required. Using equipment requiring high dexterity Requires good hearing.
