Clayton County Government is Hiring a POLICE CHAPLAIN - POLICE Near Jonesboro, GA

PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The purpose of this classification is to provide a qualified individual for pastoral care and ministerial services to Police department employees, and where necessary and appropriate to the citizen of Clayton County.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position; however, all functions may not be performed in all departments. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Provides spiritual and religious counseling to employees, refers employees to pastors, churches, or the County’s Employee Assistance program.
Assists employees during times of family crisis; visits sick and injured employees; provides critical incident debriefing for employees and the public.
Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteer chaplains; schedules volunteer chaplains. Acts as the liaison between the department and religious leaders; makes presentations to religious groups, civic groups, schools.
Attends and performs Benedictions or opening and closing prayers for recruit class graduations, award and retirement ceremonies, and such other official events as directed by the Chief of Police.
Performs various administrative tasks, which may include filing, operating a variety of office equipment, and motor vehicles. Must be able to correspond with employees through email, direct mail, social media like Twitter, Facebook, as well as, direct contact.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in counseling, divinity, or closely related field; supplemented by five (5) years previous experience and/or training that includes counseling and/or ministerial work. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Physical Abilities: Tasks require the ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally. Some tasks require the ability to hear spoken voice communications.
Environmental Factors: Performance off essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, traffic hazards, toxic agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances.
