Clay County Clerk’s Office is taking job applications for an opening for a Full-Time Office Assistant. Working hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 AM through 4PM with a starting pay at $18.00/hour. Applications are also available at the Clay County Clerk’s office at 111 West Fairfield Street in Clay Center and will be reviewed as they are received.

Position Summary: The Office Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. The Office Assistant works under supervision of the Clay County Clerk / Election Commissioner.

Essential Job Functions

• Answer and direct phone calls.
• Assist with preparing claims for payment.
• Maintain real estate records with recording and data entry.
• Assist with levy valuations and budget.
• Daily timeclock support and maintaining voter records.
• Provide payroll and election administration support.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to think critically.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
• Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
• Ability to interact positively with the public, volunteers, Board members, County staff, and state personnel.
• Ability to carry out written or oral instructions independently.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as an office assistant.
