Clarke County School District is Hiring an Entertainment, Sports and Event Management Teacher Near Athens, GA

Overall Purpose The Entertainment, Sports, and Event Management Instructor is responsible for crafting and delivering a curriculum that delves into the exciting and multifaceted realms of entertainment, sports, and event management. Duties will encompass the creation of detailed lesson plans, organization of hands-on activities, and the integration of real-world examples to deepen students' understanding of the industry. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in event planning, sports management, or entertainment, coupled with the ability to effectively communicate their expertise in an accessible and relatable manner to students. Creating a collaborative and interactive learning environment, you will encourage students to hone critical thinking skills, foster teamwork, and develop problem-solving abilities. Furthermore, staying abreast of industry trends, establishing connections with industry associations and professionals, and offering valuable insights into potential career paths will be integral to this role.

Essential Functions
  • Teaches students the fundamentals, including the applications and techniques commonly used in the industry.
  • Instructs students using effective instructional strategies such as research projects, group discussions, cooperative learning, project and problem-based learning.
  • Prepares engaging and challenging lessons for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
  • Prepares, administers, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress.

  • Attends in-person faculty meetings and professional learning sessions (GACTE Summer Conference, Cluster Drive- ins sponsored by the Georgia Department of Education, APS Professional Development, etc.).

  • Makes industry connections for the purpose of facilitating real world experiences for students such as classroom guest speakers, job shadows, service learning, and work-based learning.

  • Assists with student management throughout the building, grounds and/or other district
  • Coordinates parent/teacher and student/teacher conferences to review student performance, behavior and other issues.
  • Performs various administrative duties such as taking attendance, organizing the classroom, and responding to emails and phone calls from parents, school administrators, and staff in a timely manner.
  • Complies with all requirements for mandatory reporting of child abuse, illegal harassment, breaches of ethics, or any criminal activity of which the employee becomes aware.
  • Communicates effectively with students, parents and other stakeholders via verbal and written communication.
  • Maintains a sanitary and safe school environment when in an in-person classroom. Responsible for daily classroom clean up and wiping down surfaces to uphold sanitation standards as required.
  • Demonstrates prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed..

  • Selects and requisitions instructional aids and equipment, maintains required inventory records, makes purchases as authorized; maintains professional competence through in-service education activities.
  • Maintains an active local school advisory committee for the curriculum area.
  • Sponsors the local Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO) chapter for the respective pathway.
  • Encourages and assists students in regional, state, and national competition preparation. Maintains all requirements as outlined by the respective Georgia CTSO to retain charter.
  • Applies for extended day grant funds, as necessary, and follows all grant guidelines to satisfy the condition of the grant award.

Requirements
  • At least 2 years of occupational experience in the field required.
  • At least 1 year of teaching experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity.

Generally, the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing.
