Clark Associates Companies is Hiring a Shipping 1st shift Near Baytown, TX

POSITION SUMMARY

The Shipping Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire warehouse shipping operation. They should have extensive knowledge of the various shipping procedures and protocols while developing new techniques to increase production.

The Shipping Manager will work alongside the Training and Developing Manager to ensure all new employees receive proper training in relevant areas and maintain a high level of proficiency among current employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly shipping metrics for all outbound departments; identify and resolve operating issues as needed, including oversight of correction actions and progressive discipline process
  • Error Exclusions Switched : 0
  • Accuracy : 99.9%
  • Picking Completion : 99%
  • Actively engage in MBWA or managing by walking around and serve as a role model of Company culture
  • Maintain adequate staffing levels for various outbound departments to ensure operating metrics are met consistently; may include the coordination of shift change bids and related programs
  • Interact with employees regularly to promote a high level of engagement and ensure all safety regulations / rules are followed
  • Lead weekly and monthly team leader meetings to share information including metrics review, areas of improvement, employee relations issues, and updates on quarterly initiatives and related projects
  • Conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with all hourly employees within your department and actively invest in their personal development
  • Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with all team leaders within your department and actively invest in their personal development
  • Participate in weekly warehouse huddles with all leadership to maintain cohesiveness between departments and prepare for upcoming week
  • Develop a cross-trained team that can flex into other departments or jobs as needed
  • Identify and delegate quarterly initiatives to team members; promote and monitor progress to ensure quarterly goals are met
  • Enforce all safety procedures including warehouse SOP’s as well as PIT Policy
  • Handle the various Carrier issues that may arise - Both ground and LTL
  • Partner with EES on any human relations concerns and document those concerns in the appropriate form..
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Technician regarding any equipment issues
  • Actively practice and promote professional and personal development within the work setting
  • Display and actively practice the traits of an Ideal Team Player : Hungry, Humble and Smart
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar leadership role; experience working with a large group of non-exempt employees preferred
  • Associate degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working in a distribution or manufacturing environment preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Proficiency with MS Office required (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google suite
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical and complex concepts in a simple and concise way to ensure ease of understanding
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to quickly adapt as business needs change; ability to address difficult situations with diplomacy and emotional intelligence
  • Customer service-oriented attitude with a demonstrated desire to exceed expectations
  • Ability to work off-shift as required to respond to urgent needs

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Work is performed while standing and / or walking, up to and including 10 hours / day
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing
  • Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
  • Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching
  • Requires the ability to occasionally lift / carry 50-75lbs. and push / pull up to 150lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Occasional activities may involve exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gasses.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

May require occasional travel to other facilities within the region
