The Safety Coordinator position is responsible for leadership on all company safety and regulatory compliance activities. Will actively promote a safety culture and CK core values while developing, educating, and training employees for on the job and industry specific hazards within the compressed gas industry. Responsible for overseeing all safety related activities in manufacturing and distribution at a family owned and growing business.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist management to promote effective safety programs within their departments to ensure the company remains in compliance with governmental regulations such as OSHA, DOT, MSHA, EPA, and NFPA.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Assist with the administration of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations such as OSHA, DOT, MSHA, EPA, and NFPA.
  • Customer Interface: Participate in safety initiatives, meetings and program as required by the customer. May provide customer safety training as approved by the Corporate Training Department. Work with job site EHS personnel to identify and resolve safety issues.
  • Incident / Accident Investigation & Reporting: Investigate incidents involving company property, employees, or temporary employees. Prepare documentation to ensure an adequate investigation and preservation of evidence is completed.
  • Medical Interface: Coordinate transportation of injured or ill employees to medical facilities.
  • Branch, Field and Job Site Inspections & Observations: Perform inspections to identify hazards and control measures within the workplace. Coach and guide employees and management regarding safety compliance issues and safe product applications.
  • Develop, implement and deliver training programs for varying levels of individuals within the facility.
  • Develop safety policies and ensure training and on-going compliance.
  • Conducts risk-assessment and enforces preventative measures.
  • Promote safety culture through informational sessions and initiatives including weekly toolbox talks.
  • Documents procedures and job hazard assessments.
  • Develops and maintains continual education support materials to be used for reference once training has been completed including new hire orientation and administration of Learning Management Software.
  • Continually evaluates training progress and training procedures to monitor and analyze course effectiveness and update curriculum as needed.
  • Serve on the Safety Team, Crisis Management and 5's Teams.
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field, required
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local legal requirements and occupational health and safety procedures.
  • Experience writing reports and policies for health and safety.
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and distribution environments dealing with hazardous materials.
  • Background in welding, industrial or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to visually distinguish colors of various cylinders.
  • Ability to communicate with all staff and customers.
  • Ability to lift, roll and move cylinders up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to read, count and write to accurately complete paperwork.
  • Ability to reach, stoop, twist, kneel, bend and bend on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
