CivicScience Internships

The CivicScience internship program is designed to introduce students to the world of market intelligence. We are currently seeking undergrad and graduate students for our Summer 2024 cohort. Join us and partner with a business leader for:

• 10-12 weeks, approximately 20 hours per week (unpaid; May thru August with flexibility based on department/role and student needs)
• educational opportunities, including sessions on human resources, branding & communications, sales & marketing, research, data analysis, and various components of our tech stack
• project deliverables that may include written/published articles and documentation, presentations (group and/or individual), and other components that meet academic standards, allowing students to earn college-level credit(s)

As a Data Science Intern, you will

• Learn about analytics, dashboarding, forecasting, machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques
• Perform exploratory analysis and modeling to connect the dots between our signals and wider marketplace trends
• Assist with service delivery and data analysis to our brand and publisher customers
• Launch experimental surveys and conduct social and economic behavior analytics
• Collaborate with the data engineering team on the evolution of our internal data platforms
• Prototype state-of-the-art ML- and AI-focused projects

Qualifications/Desired Skills/Experience

• Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in the world of startups
• Positive, collaborative, people-oriented attitude with a "no excuses" mentality to push through challenges with creative solutions
• Data wrangling skills
• SQL and basic proficiency in another language suitable for data manipulation, transformation, and analysis, e.g., Python, R
• Prior experience with cloud-based databases, e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery
• Good statistical methods toolbox for data analysis and/or understanding of advanced ML/AI concepts and techniques
• Basic understanding of time-series and panel data econometrics
• Eligibility to receive college credits for this unpaid internship

Expectations

This is a remote (work from home) role for a US-based undergraduate or graduate student seeking an internship opportunity to work directly with CivicScience sales and marketing professionals. Time commitment is approximately 20 hours per week for 10-12 weeks.
