Summary:The City of Lawrence, KS MSO Department is seeking a Project Engineer II or Senior Project Engineer to assist with the planning, management, and oversight of a variety of engineering projects associated with City infrastructure and facilities.This position will act as project engineer/manager on infrastructure projects and will provide highly responsible and complex administrative and technical support. Key responsibilities include review of engineering plans and specifications, review of contract documents and cost estimates, development plan review, and construction management. Experience with stormwater or transportation projects is a plus.
Qualifications:
Project Engineer II at minimum requires:
1) Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with major course work in engineering, construction management, or a related field; 2) State recognition as an EIT, having passed the FE exam. Additional experience, education, and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification may be considered in place of the EIT certification. Project Engineer II must have 3 years of increasingly responsible engineering and project management experience in projects directly related to infrastructure management (water, wastewater, stormwater, or transportation projects) and/or subdivision development and site planning.
Senior Project Engineer at a minimum requires:
1) Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with major course work in engineering, construction management, or a related field; 2) five (5) years of increasingly responsible engineering and project management experience in projects directly related to infrastructure management (water, wastewater, stormwater, or transportation projects), CIP planning, and/or subdivision development and site planning; and 3) possession of, or ability to obtain it through comity within 6 months, a valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) from the State of Kansas
The ideal candidate for this engineering position will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with a diverse group of people. Desire working experience with MS Office and GIS software. The successful candidate must have a valid driver’s license and pass a post-offer City physical and drug screen.
