City on a Hill Charter Public School is Hiring a High School Science Teacher (2024 - 2025) Near Roxbury, MA

About City on a Hill (CoaH)

City on a Hill Charter Public School graduates college-ready students that are responsible, resourceful and respectful democratic citizens, who are prepared to compete in 21st century community, culture and commerce. We do so by emphasizing academic achievement, citizenship, teacher leadership, and public accountability. 

City on a Hill is one of Massachusetts’ first charter schools, with the upcoming 2024-2025 school year being our 30th and final year of operation. 

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

This role will not be eligible for renewal beyond the 2024-2025 school year as it will be the School's final year of operation. 

  • Co-Teaching 4 sections of Science, with various separate preparations, depending upon the results of summer school and the final school schedule.
  • Collaborate with the Science department to plan lessons, create/update lesson plans, save all updates and creations to the City on a Hill server.
  • Implement school wide systems, such as beginning of class routines, merits/demerits, writing across curriculum, as well as any additional academic initiatives implemented at the school.
  • Maintain accurate and transparent records of student work in the school’s Student Information System
  • Design and implement high quality assessment of student learning.
  • Attend all Town Meetings, department day meetings, and weekly faculty meetings.
  • Attend all grade level and IEP meetings of the students in all sections.
  • Attend subject and/or grade level field trips as appropriate.
  • Attend quarterly parent/advisor nights, graduation, and other required school events
  • Member of an assigned Professional Development Group and participant in City on a Hill’s Peer Observation Program.
  • Collaborate with SpEd teachers and ESL teachers to ensure appropriate adjustments to curriculum, instruction, and assessment are implemented and attend Learning Network team meetings for all students in sections.
  • Other duties as assigned by Principal or Vice Principal. 

Required Qualifications

  • A belief that all students can and must learn at high levels and a commitment your own continued learning, particularly as it relates to City on a Hill’s journey to operating as an anti-racist school;
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field; and 
  • A minimum of 1 year of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Massachusetts Teaching License (Initial, Professional, Provisional or Temporary), including applicable MTELs; and
  • SEI or RETELL endorsement
