Position Overview

The Assistant Youth Development Coordinator is responsible for planning, overseeing, coordinating, and supervising youth enrichment programs for the West Lafayette Parks & Recreation department at the John R. Dennis Wellness Center.

The ideal candidate will have…

• Experience in planning, organizing, developing, scheduling, and evaluating youth enrichment programs, classes, and opportunities.
• The ability to serve as an instructor for programs when needed.
• Experience with hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, and evaluating part-time and seasonal personnel.
• Considerable knowledge of, as well as the ability to organize and participate in, recreational and athletic programming and development.
• Exceptional human relations, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills to include the ability to work with the public, patrons, staff, and vendors.
• A working knowledge of word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheets, and other recreation-related computer software.

Compensation and Benefits

The City of West Lafayette offers a competitive salary and benefits program. The salary range is $39,360 - $50,615 (placement within this range is dependent upon qualifications and experience).
