City of Venice (IL) is Hiring a Permit & Systems Analyst Near Venice, FL

Starting salary from $55,745 - $72,468 based upon experience. 

General Statement of Job

Responsible for implementing, integrating, troubleshooting and maintaining the City’s permitting software systems and workflow. Works closely with customers, vendors, management and technical staff to analyze, document and identify business and technical solutions to business problems and needs.

City Expectations:

Certain essential city services are required to be maintained in any civil emergency. Depending upon the type of emergency, any and all employees may be activated as essential employees in the event of an emergency.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

1. Works together with the Permitting Services Manager to ensure permitting process meet goals and objectives effectively and efficiently.

2. Implements changes as needed by evaluating user requirements to automate procedures, update workflows, develop new processes, and otherwise improve the existing technical solutions.

3. Responsible for maintaining updates of permitting system software. Works with the Information Technology Department along with software provides to coordinate required updates and/or changes to servers.

4. Provides technical support, assistance, and training on systems utilized for permitting and associated processes for the Building Department. Serves as a liaison, to service providers and City Departments utilizing any permitting software. 

5. Maintains department’s web pages on the City’s website and the Building Department Intranet SharePoint site. 

6. Serves as the departmental liaison with the Information Technology Department for projects, integrations, technical incident escalations and streamlining communications across departments.

7. Responsible for staying current with all governing regulations, compliance requirements, and developments in technology used by the department.

8. Accurately and legibly prepares and maintains monthly reports, forms, and other required documentation.

9. Assists at the City’s “One-Stop” Permit Center, providing specific information about procedures, regulations, and fees.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of all assigned functions and operations. Responsible in work to the Permitting Services Manager.

Minimum Education and Training

An Associate’s Degree with four (4) years’ experience as a Systems Analyst or a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field with two (2) years of Systems Analyst experience. Experience with managing complex workflows in enterprise-class business systems with Windows OS clients and Windows-based applications, as well as mobile devices. (i.e. CentralSquare, TRAKiT or similar) is preferred. 

Minimum Qualifications and Standards Required

Ability to interact with the public in a professional, respectful manner and deal with difficult people with courtesy and self-control. Ability to work independently of direct supervision and capable of sustaining regular and predictable attendance. Knowledge of current practices and terminology in all phases of building construction. Ability to communicate effectively and complete forms/reports legibly and accurately. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and the general public. Possess a valid Florida Driver’s license, free of any serious violations.

Requires a working knowledge of Central Square permitting software TraKit and or have the background to be able to learn the permitting software to configure systems as needed, as well as a working knowledge of the current version of Microsoft Office Professional software suite including proficiency with Word and Excel. Must have a basic understanding of the current version of the Microsoft Windows operating system. Working knowledge of current versions of Internet browsers and Microsoft Outlook is also highly recommended. Ability to learn specific computer applications used in the Building Department.

Physical Requirements: 

Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, climb, bend, reach, stoop, and lift. Must have good eyesight and hearing with or without aides. Color vision required. Must possess excellent hand and eye coordination. Reasonable accommodation will be considered for individuals with physical disabilities.

Work is performed primarily in an office environment.
