City of Tyler is Hiring a Foreman II (Stormwater) Near Tyler, TX

The purpose of this position is to direct and manage the safe and efficient construction and maintenance activities of Stormwater Maintenance Crews. The Foreman performs supervisory, technical, and skilled work on various drainage projects. This position manages the means and methods of the crew.

  1. Supervises, trains, and assists personnel in stormwater maintenance. Makes recommendations on the type of work to be performed. Organizes, assigns, and coordinates daily workflow and monitors results. 
  2. Inspect properties to address citizen complaints, schedule preventative maintenance, and obtain easements for site access if necessary. 
  3. Creates a high-quality work culture through participation in and emphasis on training and mentoring to develop leadership, management, and technical skills in self and all employees, including safety-related training and skills.
  4. Utilizes computer and tablet for work orders, memos, reports, and other correspondence. Maintains records and reports to monitor team performance.
  5. Monitor assigned budget expenditures and validate expenditures according to county, state, or federal regulations and guidelines. 
  6. Manages maintenance of assigned equipment and notifies/coordinates required repairs. 
  7. Inputs, manages and utilizes inspection and other data and communications using the City Works database and Geographic Information System (GIS).
  8. Performs related duties and functions as assigned.
Education and Experience – Must have a High School diploma or GED. Must have five (5) years of experience in general construction, drainage, stormwater management, or related with at least one (1) year supervisory experience. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by work experience will be considered. Must have a valid Texas Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsement and a good driving and safety record or able to obtain within one (1) year from date of hire.

The City of Tyler will accept two years of relevant experience in place of each year of college required in the job description. Four years of relevant experience will be considered in place of an Associate's Degree, and eight years of relevant experience will be considered in place of a Bachelor's Degree. Any experience required in the Minimum qualifications is in addition to years of experience substituted for a degree.
