The City of Tomball is accepting applications for the position of Senior Accountant in the Finance Department. This position is responsible for a variety of general accounting functions, including preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, analyzing financial information, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures. This position is also primarily responsible for coordinating the month-end and year-end financial close activities, ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Prepares journal entries and coordinates month-end close activities.
• Prepares monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Reconciles sub-ledger to general ledger account balances.
• Prepares monthly investment reports, including related journal entries.
• Coordinates year-end close and annual financial audit activities.
• Assists with preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
• Maintains schedule of capital asset leases for financial reporting purposes.
• Maintains prepaid asset schedule and records amortization.
• Prepares annual schedules for pension and other post-retirement employee benefits.
• Maintains general ledger account and fund structure.
• Updates financial information on the City's website
• Records financial activity and prepares financial statements for the Tomball Economic Development Corporation (TEDC)
• Implements process improvements to create efficiencies
• Serves as a mentor to other Finance staff.
• Participates in a variety of special projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Required-Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• Required-2 years of municipal government accounting experience.
• Preferred-Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO), or similar certification.
• Preferred-Working experience with Incode 10.

SALARY:

· Hiring Range: $68,099 - $71,504

· Salary Range: $68,099- $102,149
