Invites Applications For The Position Of:
Vacation: 12 days of paid vacation leave during year one,
increasing to 15 days in year two and increasing based on years
of service thereafter
Sick Leave: 12 days of paid sick leave per year
Administrative Leave: 8 hours each fiscal year
The annual salary for the grant funded Community Services
Officer position is $44,361 - $65,581. Placement within this range is
dependent on qualifications. The city of Susanville offers excellent
benefits that includes, but is not limited to education/certification
incentive program, merit program, longevity program, paid State
Disability Insurance, and bilingual pay.
The City provides the following benefits:
General Leave:
Medical, Dental, & Vision Insurance: The City of Susanville offers
excellent Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance. Employee
currently pays $30 per month and receives medical, dental, and
vision coverage for employee, spouse, and eligible dependents.
Medical insurance is currently a 90/10 plan, with annual deductible
of $150 (individual) and $450 (family), annual maximum out of
pocket is $3,000 (individual) and $6,000 (family).
Retirement: The City participates in the California Public
Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS). For legacy members,
the benefit level is 3% @60, employee share is 8%, paid by
employees. For new members, the benefit level is 2% @62 ,
employee share is 6.75%, paid by the employee.
Holidays: 14 paid holidays per year and 1 floating holiday

$50,000 Group Life Insurance policy
Community Services Officer
Must be 18 years old at the time of employment;
Possession of a High School diploma or GED equivalent;
No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history;
Must be able to read and write the English language;
One year of general office, communications, or records management experience
desirable Some grant/program management experience
Experience with Social Work Code of Ethics
P.O.S.T. 832 PC Certificate must be obtained within twelve (12) months of
employment
Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s license
Manage time and organize work demands, work effectively in stressful situation,
think critically, and exercise discretion and independent judgement;
Basic law enforcement terminology and concepts;
Basic report writing and investigative techniques;
Basic office operations and practices along with computer terminal and computer
operations;

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Community Services Officer position is a full
time benefitted position which is grant funded through the State of California,
Department of Housing and Community Development’s Permanent Local
Housing Allocation Program and is a limited term (3-5 years dependent on
program funding) position. Under general supervision of the Police Captain or
designee, the CSO performs a variety of routine clerical, secretarial,
administrative, and field operations work in support of law enforcement
activities. This position will focus efforts on assisting persons who are
experiencing or are at risk of homelessness, including but not limited to,
providing rapid rehousing, rental assistance, supportive/case management
services that allow people to obtain and retain housing, operating and capital
costs for navigation centers and emergency shelters. This position will have
frequent public contact and will require the exercise of tact, diplomacy, good
judgement, and negotiation skills.
