Job Summary
Manages the day-to-day activities and operations of Fairview Golf Course clubhouse, meeting/banquet room, pro shop, budget, and employee. Works closely with Golf Course Superintendent to coordinate golf activities and maintenance. Prepares, administers, and monitors annual golf course budget.
Supervisory Responsibility
Integral to the position of Golf Course Manager is the responsibility for developing subordinates to their fullest potential by exercising appropriate degrees of coaching, training, guiding, evaluating, correcting and, if necessary, disciplining.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops, maintains, and evaluates all programs, activities, and events to best suit the patrons of the facility.
- Responsible for managing all aspects of the clubhouse, concession, pro shop, and meeting/banquet room.
- Trains, schedules, and manages all part time employees for clubhouse staff and volunteers.
- Develops, compiles, and analyzes statistical data and reports for the utilization and efficiency of Fairview Golf Course.
- Coordinates marketing efforts for programs, activities, and special events.
- Coordinates closely with Golf Superintendent to schedule events, tournaments, and course maintenance to avoid all conflicts.
- Prepares, monitors, and tracks budget revenue & expenditures for golf course.
- Develops and facilitates a strong volunteer program, including program policy development, recruitment, training and evaluation of individuals and the program as a whole.
- Prepares all daily reports and deposits.
- Serves as liaison with golf course user groups.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops necessary marketing items.
- Oversees maintenance of the building, parking lot, and areas around the clubhouse.

- Knowledge of basic computer software programs and standard office equipment.
- Knowledge of all golf rules.

- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks.
- Ability to train, coordinate and provide guidance to full and part time employees, volunteers, and patrons.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work flexible hours, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to obtain a liquor license in Manager’s name with the State, County and City of St. Joseph
- Valid driver’s license required.
Material and Equipment Directly Used
Use of a variety of office equipment including, but not limited to, computer and all related software applications, copier, telephone, calculator, fax machine, concession and kitchen equipment, cash registers and credit card machine. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Work is generally performed in an indoor setting with a controlled environment. Will be required to work outdoors at various events/programs on a seasonal basis, where conditions can vary from extreme heat and cold with dust, dirt, snow, ice and noise, while standing, bending, lifting and other physical activities. Seldom needs to lift more than 10 to 20 pounds, occasionally lifts objects weighing as much as 50 pounds or assists in lifting objects weighing in excess of 75 pounds. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as Business Administration preferred. Three or more years prior experience or any combination of formal education and work experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Passing of a drug screening required prior to appointment.
