The City of Simi Valley, home of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, was incorporated in 1969. It is a General Law City with a Council/Manager form of government. Simi Valley encompasses an area of 39 square miles and is located in the southeast portion of Ventura County. The current estimated population is 126,878, yet Simi Valley maintains a unique balance of open space and City amenities.
Outdoor recreation includes over a dozen beautiful parks, camping and picnic spots, tennis courts, two golf courses and one of the largest equestrian trail systems in the United States. Boating and other water sporting activities are only 60 to 90 minutes away in Ventura and Santa Barbara. The City of Los Angeles is less than an hour away.
Excellent community facilities provide service to Simi Valley residents. The City has one general hospital, 47 religious institutions, one library, one Cultural Arts Center, three newspapers, one radio station, 24 financial institutions, 21 elementary schools, three middle schools, and four high schools. Our Public Works Waterworks Division is hiring Waterworks Operators at levels I, II, and III, depending on qualifications.
Details:
Full-time regular position, alternative 9/80 work schedule with Monday or Friday off
Pay ranges depend on qualifications, and all come with Excellent Benefits (see below)
Waterworks Operator 1: $26.62 - $34.05 /hourly
Waterworks Operator 2: $29.33 - $37.46 /hourly
Waterworks Operator 3: $33.15 - $42.32 /hourly
Waterworks Operator 1: $27.68 - $35.41 /hourly
Waterworks Operator 2: $30.50 - $38.95 /hourly
Waterworks Operator 3: $34.47 - $44.01 /hourly
Our Minimum Qualifications for consideration are:
Waterworks Operator I
Education/Training: Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
Experience: One year of increasingly responsible experience repairing and maintaining water distribution systems and equipment.
License or Certificate: Possession of, and ability to maintain, certification as Water Distribution Operator Grade D1. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class A driver’s license within one year of employment.
Waterworks Operator II
Education/Training: Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible experience repairing and maintaining water distribution systems and equipment.
License or Certificate: Possession of, and ability to maintain, certification as Water Distribution Operator D2. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class A driver’s license within one year of employment.
Waterworks Operator III
Education/Training: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in water distribution systems and/or water technology courses.
Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible experience repairing and maintaining water distribution systems and equipment.
License or Certificate: Possession of, and ability to maintain, certification as a Water Distribution Operator Grade D3. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class A driver’s license within one year of employment.
