Performs general maintenance on sports fields and facilities. Participates in all maintenance operations of sports facilities including mowing, edging, refuse removal, etc. Perform maintenance to sports facilities such as soccer, baseball, softball, and tennis including irrigation repair, pitcher’s mound construction, field painting, etc. Maintain building operations maintenance policies, standard operating and safety procedures, goals, and objectives. Identify and communicate repairs needed, make repairs or work with other maintenance workers to make repairs and transport equipment and materials. Perform other duties as assigned and/or required.
High school or GED. Broad knowledge of sports field maintenance, agriculture, turf managements and irrigation. Substantial experience in the field is desired. Considerable knowledge of equipment, facilities, and operations. Knowledge of seeding, fertilizing, watering and general soil preparation, and herbicide control. Skills in First Aid and CPR. Ability to maintain accurate records, type and enter data accurately. Ability to effectively communicate on a one-on-one basis with others. Ability to maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with other employees, department officials and the public. Ability to report to work each scheduled day, and on time.
