City of Sherwood AR is Hiring a Planning Technician Near Sherwood, AR

Job objective Responsible for organizing and coordinating office operations for the Planning Department. Serves as Planning Commission Secretary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides generalized information to the public on zoning, planning and land use, building regulations, and permit information.
  • Undertake the administrative responsibilities of receiving, organizing, and tracking the status for all Planning Commission items. This includes post Planning Commission approval to ensure all contingencies and requirements are achieved.
  • As Planning Commission Secretary, prepare informational packets, agendas, and minutes for Planning Commission monthly meetings; attend monthly meetings which occur outside of the normal work schedule.
  • Prepares zoning verification letters and public hearing notices.
  • Conducts site visits to photograph and document site conditions and surrounding land uses for applications received for Planning Commission consideration.
  • Reviews sign permit applications and other technical reviews such as replats.
  • Support for Permits Clerk(s) in answering telephone queries and aiding in the completion of applications for issuance of any type of building activity. Including but not limited: buildings, electrical, plumbing, heating and air, and sign permitting.
  • Assist engineering staff as requested and/or needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and/or required.


Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements and preferences listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required and/or preferred. High school or GED plus two years prior work experience in clerical, secretarial, or administrative work; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
