City of San Bernardino is Hiring a Recreation Leader - Part-Time Near San Bernardino, CA

Consider joining the City of San Bernardino's Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department as a part-time Recreation Leader! 

The Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department is looking to fill multiple part-time vacancies through the CaliforniansForAll Youth Workforce Program (CYWP). The program is intended to increase youth employment and early career individuals into an entry-level pathway that will provide employees with the experience and skills to develop into potential long-term public employees. 

As a Recreation Leader you will organize and lead a variety of recreation programs including cultural activities, youth sports, teen activities, aquatic activities, senior citizen activities, and park-centered programs.

Part-time Recreation Leaders work an average of 20 hours per week and are assigned to varied work shifts, including weekends.

Example of typical duties:

Provides courteous and expeditious customer service to the general public and City department staffs.

Organizes, leads, teaches, and conducts recreation activities such as, arts and crafts, games, team sports, dancing, drama, community singing and informal musical activities at parks, playgrounds, and community centers.

Assists in planning, coordinating, and scheduling youth sports leagues, tournaments, shows, socials, dances, excursions, exhibits, special events and continuing programs, and a comprehensive recreation program for all ages.

Coaches and referees athletic games; ensures that safety precautions are observed and administers first aid.

Requisitions, issues, receives, and oversees the use of equipment and materials; cares for or supervises the care and maintenance of playground, athletic, arts and crafts equipment and materials; attends in-service training programs.

Routinely adheres to and maintains a positive attitude towards City and Department goals; and, performs related work as required.

Education: Graduation from high school or GED.

Experience: Six months' paid experience in customer service or recreation programs or one (1) year of volunteer services in customer service or recreation programs.

Must be between 18 - 30 years of age.
