We have an exciting IT career opportunity with the City of Salem! The City of Salem IT Operations Division is looking for two talented individuals to join our team. We have two full time Network Analyst positions available to support the City of Salem’s network infrastructure and system integration.

What you will do:
Your work will include planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LAN's), wide area networks (WAN's), and enterprise applications to ensure the stability and integrity of data, video, and wireless network services. The focus of this position is on the network security, data security, workstation security, application support, standards compliance, and the data network. You will participate in and manage projects that install, monitor, maintain, support, and optimize network hardware, software, and communication links, as well as analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems, and provide end-user-training.
 
Additional information on job responsibilities:

  • Active Directory Design and Implementation: Design, deploy, and maintain Active Directory structures that align with organizational requirements and best practices.
  • User and Group Management: Create, modify, and manage user accounts, groups, and permissions to ensure secure and efficient access to network resources.
  • Group Policy Management: Develop and enforce Group Policies to standardize and secure desktop configurations, application settings, and security settings across the network.
  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve issues related to Active Directory, authentication, and access control in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement security measures to protect against unauthorized access and ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.
  • Backup and Recovery: Establish and maintain reliable backup and recovery processes for Active Directory, ensuring minimal downtime in the event of data loss or system failure.
  • Collaboration with IT Teams: Work closely with other IT teams to integrate Active Directory services with other systems, applications, and infrastructure components.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for Active Directory configurations, policies, and procedures.
  • Upgrades and Patch Management: Plan and execute upgrades, patches, and updates to ensure the security and performance of the Active Directory environment.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Implement monitoring solutions to proactively identify and address issues and generate regular reports on system performance and security. 
  • Use of Secure Sockets Layer Private Network (SSL VPN).
  • Use of Virtual Machine Software (VMware) and Hypervisor-based virtualization technology (Hyper-V)
  • Use of Payment Card Industry (PCI) and Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS).

  • Our team follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office 295 Church Ste Se, Suite 210, Salem, OR 97301, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks and manager approval. This is subject to change based on business needs.

What are the minimum qualifications? 
  • Must pass the pre-employment background check.
  • Must have a driver's license and a driving record that meets the City of Salem's driving standards.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information science, management information systems, business administration, or a related course of study and five years of related work experience, or any combination of experience and training that demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities as listed, and ability to perform the essential job functions.
  • Must pass criminal background check necessary to obtain Criminal Justice Information System clearance and Law Enforcement Data System certification within 30 days of hire (clearance must be maintained throughout employment).

Preferred Qualifications (Not required to apply): 
  • Experience leading network projects is desired.

  • Configuring and managing access control to secure facilities and information within Lenel Security systems.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving common issues in access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Designing and implementing Microsoft 365 services; 
  • Managing user identity and roles, access and authentication; 
  • Planning Office 365 workloads and applications; 
  • Implementing modern device services; 
  • Implementing Microsoft 365 security and threat management; 
  • Managing Microsoft 365 governance and compliance;
  • Planning and designing collaboration communications systems; 
  • Configuring and managing Teams meetings and events, phones, rooms device, environments, channels, chats and applications;
  • Managing meetings and calling;
  • Monitoring, reporting on, and troubleshooting Teams.
