ABOUT THIS POSITION

Approximately 48 million passengers traveled through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in 2023, one of the busiest airports in the country in the nation's 5th largest city. Sky Harbor is the largest of three airports in the Phoenix Airport System (Phoenix Sky Harbor, Deer Valley, and Goodyear airports) which is operated by the City of Phoenix Aviation Department and has an economic impact of $38 billion annually.

The Aviation Department has a vacancy for an Application Developer position. The Application Developer will develop software solutions based on business requirements. The applicant will be responsible for delivering web applications that are designed to be responsive, using agile, test-driven development, and version control. This position provides subject matter expertise in system architecture and high-level design, taking ownership of features and other aspects of the system, supporting development efforts, researching and developing new features and approaches, code reviews, and proof of concept demonstrations. The Application Developer position is responsible for working directly on building user flows, interactive features, design and improve customer experience, and to provide support for critical airport business systems.

Key duties:

  • Follow proper code development methodologies and principles.
  • Manage and maintain airport websites and provide technical support.
  • Manage and upgrade the existing portfolio of applications, including security updates.
  • Work independently or as a member of a functional and technical team to develop recommendations, design and develop enhancements to existing systems.
  • Actively engage in application system administration, detailed analysis, program design and development, documentation, testing, implementation, and maintenance of business applications.

SALARY

Pay Range: $67,849.60 - $110,510.40 annually.

Hiring Range: $67,849.60 - $100,235.20 annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of experience in computer applications programming and development and systems analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Database experience (SQL, PL/SQL, TSQL, writing SQL statements, stored procedures, and functions).
  • .Net development experience.
  • Quality assurance and testing experience.
  • Experience using Web Development (HTML and Javascript).
  • Experience with APIs, Microservices, RESTful or SOAP web services.
  • Experience with cloud based platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.).
  • Power platform experience.
