Recruitment Range: $16.54-$19.23 hourly dependent on knowledge and experience***This position is in the area of Streets***Minimum Preparation for Work: Ability to read, write and follow written instructions, and;Two (2) years of related experience.Necessary Special Requirements: Possession of an appropriate driver license for equipment operated and any license, training or certification required by law or regulation to complete assigned tasks.Some positions require a journeyman certification.Nature of Work: This is semi-skilled work in construction, maintenance and repair work.An employee in this class, under general supervision, performs duties and provides general direction to a variety of light construction, maintenance and repair projects. Work is performed under the general supervision of a lead worker or other operating official. Supervision may be exercised over unskilled or semi?skilled workers. May be subject to emergency call as part of routine duties.Examples of Work: Performs and directs all phases of light construction, maintenance, and repair projects.Repairs, tests, and maintains a variety of mechanical equipment.Supervises a crew of unskilled or semi?skilled laborers.Operates automotive and mechanical equipment; uses a wide variety of hand and power tools.Keeps routine records and makes simple reports.Performs related work as required.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Considerable knowledge of pertinent standard methods, practices, and procedures used in construction, maintenance, and repair work.Considerable knowledge of pertinent construction, maintenance, and repair materials, tools, and equipment.Considerable knowledge of pertinent standard methods, practices, and procedures used in construction, maintenance, and repair work.Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.Ability to keep simple records.Ability to supervise the work of others.Ability to perform safely all phases of routine construction, maintenance, and repair work.Ability to operate light automotive and mechanic equipment.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.Skill in the routine care and use of pertinent facilities, tools, and equipment.The mental and physical demands and the work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
