Recruitment Range: $19.14-$22.25 hourly dependent on knowledge and experience***This position works outside most of the time monitoring the City of Pensacola parking lots/spaces/meters******Work hours for this position: Sunday 3pm - 12:00 am and Wednesday - Saturday 6pm-2am (off Mondays and Tuesdays)***Minimum Preparation for Work: High school diploma or equivalent.OrCombination of education, training, and/or work experience equal to or greater than the requirements listed above as determined by Human Resources.Necessary Special Requirements: Possession of an appropriate driver license for equipment operated and any license, training or certification required by law or regulation to complete assigned tasksCertified FDLE parking training completion or willingness and ability to obtain certification as a parking ambassador. Minimum of sixteen (16) hours in classroom training from a program approved by the Pensacola Downtown Parking Management District (DPMD), following by a minimum of eight (8) hour supervised field training, followed by five (5) days field training shadowing an established Parking AmbassadorPossession of a valid driver license for the State of Florida, or ability to obtain one within 30 days. Must have at least 2 years licensed driving experience.Must have clean driving record within last 2 years.No criminal record (other than minor traffic violation)Ability to provide/pass pre-employment background check, criminal background report, negative drug and tobacco test result and credit report when requestedNature of Work: Responsible for patrolling assigned area(s) by vehicle or on foot to ensure public compliance with parking ordinance(s) and issuing citations for overtime parking violators and illegally parked vehicles. Maintain communication with Parking Supervisor regarding conditions of parking areas and parking equipment.Examples of Work: Enforcement of DPMD policies and proceduresPatrol an assigned route to ensure public compliance with existing parking ordinances and lawsKnowledge of the City’s ordinances and laws. Answers inquiries from the public concerning the city's parking regulations and directs citizens to the proper authorities for disposition of complaints or inquiries, if necessaryIssue citations for illegally parked vehicles, photograph the violation with provided equipmentObserve and report hazardous conditions such as missing parking/traffic signs, unknown construction areas and street markings that may be faded or incorrectBe an Ambassador by providing information to the public regarding parking regulations, location of streets, buildings, and points of interestMust have basic use smartphone/other media device to issue citations and look up informationMaintain professionalism & customer service techniques to address customer concerns and inquiriesReporting, Maintenance/repair of malfunctioning parking meters and pay stations when necessaryTestifying in violation appeal hearings as neededMay be assigned to collect revenue from parking meters and pay stationsMay be required to assist maintenance techniciansMay be required to participate in data collection for operational surveysMust be willing and able to operate an assigned vehicle (including motor vehicles, golf cart etc.) as needed/requested by supervisor(s) in downtown trafficPerforms other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the operations of parking facilities, parking policies, and best practices in parking and traffic control.Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.Ability to supervise and plan the work of others.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates and the general public.Ability to work independently and remain motivated in order to complete tasks.Ability to attend work regularly as an essential function of this job to ensure continuity.Ability to read/write and communicate well.Ability to recognize and accept the expectation of ethical and law-abiding behavior in both professional and personal life, as an example to the public you serve.Ability to use a smartphone/computer for computerized inquiries on vehicle registrations.Mental and Physical Requirements: The mental and physical demands and the work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
