City of New Orleans is Hiring a Human Resources (HR) Generalist/Analyst Near Orleans, LA

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes and develops recommendations for new personnel programs, processes, or policies, such as new classification definitions, innovative employee selection strategies and guidelines and related projects;
  • Presents sensitive proposals and recommendations, to departmental managers, elected officials, union representatives, and others. Presents expert testimony and prepares the department's rationale for classification determinations, selection processes, rules interpretation, etc.
  • Provides technical expertise to line department management and staff, labor union representatives, job applicants and others regarding the rationale for and proper application of personnel procedures and policies. Serves as consultant to line department management regarding potentially unforeseen impacts and legal implications of proposed personnel actions;
  • Provides training and guidance to less experienced analysts on the methodologies, practices and concepts related to the organizations work. Serves as lead on special projects and assignments;
  • Leads internal audits to monitor personnel activities and records to ensure compliance with all established City policies;
  • Develops and delivers presentations and attends meetings, conferences and workshops;
  • Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies, procedures and safety practices;
  • Attends work regularly at the designated place and time;
  • Supports continuous process improvement initiatives;

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- Proven experience as an HR Specialist or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Proficient in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Experience with contract management and project management is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $44,275.63 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
