This position is eligible for hiring and retention bonuses totaling $3,000.00 ($1,500 on the first check and $1,500 after completion of training). 
Summary
Under the direction of the Executive Director of the Western Colorado Regional Dispatch Center, the Telecommunicator Supervisor provides oversight and leadership to the activities of the Public Safety Telecommunicators engaged in the use of computerized communication equipment to ensure that emergency and non-emergency calls for services are answered quickly and that the appropriate responders are dispatched expeditiously.
Physical and Environmental Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the Telecommunicator Supervisor is regularly required to sit for long periods of time at the same workstation. This position requires extensive computer use so the employee must have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen. This position requires exceptional hearing and listening skills. The Telecommunicator Supervisor will be required to hear and understand communications through a communications headset, while also hearing and comprehending communications from sources outside of the communications headset. The position requires occasional lifting and/or move up to 20 pounds.   • Perform functions of a Public Safety Telecommunicator as needed
    • Maintain high level of customer service skills
    • Maintain ability to multi task/perform more than one activity at a time in a high stress, emergency response environment
    • Possess advanced computer skills and an in depth knowledge of NCIC and CCIC standards
    • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of personnel within Western Colorado Regional Dispatch Center and all the agencies services are rendered.
  • Supervise and manage Public Safety Telecommunicators
    • Demonstrate leadership abilities, motivating staff and enhancing overall performance.
    • Plan, direct and monitor personnel in the performance of daily activities.
    • Provide training, coaching and mentorship to staff.
    • Evaluate personnel job performance through QA audits, written performance appraisals and employee log entries; providing performance feedback.
    • Receive and address citizen compliments and complaints directed towards staff; recommending commendations, awards, and disciplinary action toward Public Safety Telecommunicators.
    • Plan and schedule daily staffing, maintains daily attendance records, approve leave requests, and coordinates the scheduling of requested time off.
    • Trains and directs the training of new employees and cross trains employees in communication duties, equipment and on department policy, procedure and resources.
    •  Facilitate communication and positive interaction to maintain an effective working relationships between dispatch and first responder personnel.
    • Document and alert Executive Director of significant incidents
  • Communications Administration
    • Review and manage enhanced 911 Database and Master Street Address Guide (MSAG) updates and corrections.
    • Review and manage Spillman CAD special instruction screens for accuracy.
    • Reproduce audio recordings for use by service agencies, courts, and citizens.
    • Review and re-write standard operating procedures and training manuals as necessary.
    • Review requests for supplies, equipment, overtime, and training assuring requests are.
    • Participate in interviewing and selection personnel.
  • Equipment management and maintenance
    • Ensure proper equipment operation by performing minor maintenance and repairs, contacting outside vendors for issues and maintaining a logs.
    • Assist with research and recommends for improving and/or upgrading technology and equipment in accordance with
    • established standards.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED. 
  • Three (3) years of public safety communications experience.
  • One (1) year of lead worker or supervisory experience preferred.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is desirable.
