City of Lawrenceburg is Hiring a Community Center Assistant Near Lawrenceburg, IN

We are looking for a dynamic, outgoing, personality to uphold the mission and vision of the Lawrenceburg Community Center, to be an externally focused driver of community good will at our premier recreational center located in southeastern Indiana. 

The Community Center Assistant supports the administrative operations of the Lawrenceburg Community Center as well as helping in coordinating scheduling and programming as needed. This position is also responsible for overseeing the staff of the Community Center. Prospective employees should know that this position is required to work a variety of shifts including nights and weekends. This is a salaried position and work weeks may exceed 40 hours as determined by business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Oversee the operations of the front desk
  • Create weekly schedules of part time staff to ensure coverage of front desk without employees exceeding 29 hours per week.
  • Point person for after school and summer programs.
  • Assists in program attraction and retention for the Center.
  • Learn and adhere to record retention schedule policies for the department.
  • Create an inventory of supplies and ensure supplies are stocked.
  • Create cleaning schedule and ensure it is adhered to.
  • Assists in preparation of documents as needed.
  • Regularly interact with the public and assist when needed.
  • Assign items of execution to the staff as needed in conjunction with the daily needs of the department.
  • Handle all patron complains in a timely, efficient, and courteous manner.
  • Report any issues or problems to the Director as they deem needed.
  • Observe and check the progress and quality of the facility over a set shift.
  • Keep the facility under systematic review throughout their shift to ensure safety of all patrons and staff members present.
  • Assist in marketing the facility programming when requested.
  • Delegate tasks as needed and (re)assign staff as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Experience in coordinating after school and summer programs preferred.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Proficient in Canva.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures, First Aid and CPR preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Energetic and has a genuinely enjoys interacting with people.
  • Must be able to work a flexible shift that could include nights and weekends.

 Talk, hear, and speak. Standing for prolonged periods of times while moving and interacting through the facility. Will also be sitting and working on a computer, sometimes for an extended period. Walking, stooping, crouching. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
