Position: Sr. Aquatic Program Leader

Department: Parks, Recreation & Arts

Classification: Part-Time/Temporary

Hourly Rate: $29.63

Non - Exempt – Overtime Eligible

Job Summary:

The Sr. Aquatic Program Leader oversees pool facilities for the City, instructs and evaluates staff on rules, regulations and safety practices.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Monitor responsibility over Lifeguard I & Sr. Lifeguard
Example of Duties & Responsibilities:

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversees City-wide pool facilities to include all staff
  • Orders all necessary supplies for maintenance of pool facilities
  • Instructs and evaluates aquatic staff in the observance of rules, regulations, and safety practices
  • Oversees swimming operation and instruction at pool facilities
  • Respond to and documents all safety accidents
  • Administers first aid when necessary
  • Maintains and prepares payroll records for summer aquatics staff
  • Enforce health and safety regulations at the pool facilities
  • Select, supervise and evaluate staff
  • Perform pool maintenance procedures
  • Aid in training lower level aquatic personnel
Required Skills:
  • Possess the knowledge of the operation and maintenance of aquatics programs and pools, pool safety rules and procedures
  • Advanced life-saving methods and procedures
  • Ability to plan, schedule and coordinate a major summer aquatics program
  • Possess the skills to administer first aid to victims of accident, injury or sudden illness
Education and Experience:
  • Red Cross Certifications required:
  1. Lifeguard training
  2. CPR for the Professional Rescuer
  3. First Aid
  4. Water Safety Instructor
  5. Train the Trainer
  • One year of supervisory experience plus 2 years of experience developing, organizing and conducting aquatics programs
