City of Lancaster is Hiring a Recreation Program Leader-Athletics Near Lancaster, CA

Position: Recreation Program Leader – Athletics 

Department: Various Classification: Temporary 

Salary:Range: $17.95-$20.78/hour

Non-Exempt – Overtime Eligible

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, open and close athletic facilities, set up equipment for athletics leagues, tournaments and programs, as well as working City special events. Well-rounded knowledge of sports rules such as softball, basketball, soccer, etc. Available to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Example of Duties & Responsibilities:

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work with various organizations to ensure leagues, rentals, and tournaments are successful.
  • Staff and set up for athletic games.
  • Drag and chalk softball/baseball fields.
  • Score keep athletic games.
  • Be friendly, courteous, and helpful to all patrons.
  • Circulating and be aware of any incidents, accidents, and injuries that may occur during a shift.
  • Assist with department and Citywide special events.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to organize, plan, direct, and lead a group of children or adults.
  • Write reports and evaluations.
  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Deal tactfully and effectively with staff, participants, and the public.

Education and Experience:

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance. 
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university majoring in Recreation or a related field is desirable.
