City of Lancaster is Hiring an Internship - IT Technician Near PA, PA
Schedule: 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. Workday will begin between 7:00 am and 8:30 am and end between 3:30 pm and 5:00 pm, depending on department needs and assignments of the intern. Most work days will be 8:30 am - 5:00 pm with a 30 minute lunch break. This position will work as at a technician level, under close supervision to support the IT Bureau in day-to-day operations of the bureau. The fundamental reason the position exists is to support City server-based applications, networks, telecommunication systems, and equipment by troubleshooting and maintaining IT systems.
This position reports to the Chief Data and Technology Officer. This job does not require any significant programming skill. However, the employee is expected to have significant skill in diagnosing and debugging PC.This internship is expected to last for 16 weeks between the period of May 2024 and September 2024, depending on the candidate's school schedule and availability. Internship may be extended into Fall 2024 (full or part-time) depending on performance of the candidate and the needs of the Bureau of Data and Technology.
Follows safe practices in the performance of duties.
Supports designated technology systems of the City of Lancaster and its departments including but not limited to hardware, software, local and web-based applications, audio/visual equipment.
Assists staff with hardware and software challenges.
Assists staff with new hardware and software through the use or development of training and training materials.
Troubleshoots hardware and software issues. Attempts to replicate reported technical problems and look for solutions.
Education, Training and Experience
Graduation from High School or completion of a GED is required.
Sophomore or Junior enrolled in an engineering or related program at an accredited college or university
Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid Pennsylvania State Driver’s License is required.
Environmental Conditions
Indoors, Environmentally Controlled.
