City of Lancaster is Hiring a Cashier Service Clerk Near Lancaster, PA
JOB **Skills testing required**Provides customer-centered service to customers by the routine receipt and disbursement of cash and assisting customers with basic inquiries into account balances and researching payment discrepancies. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Processes payments from the public either in person or by mail for real estate and other taxes, utilities, trash and recycling, and other bills using a computerized billing collection system. Assures accuracy through daily reconciliation between cash and computerized transaction totals.Processes insufficiently funded (NSF) checks and other items returned from the banks in a manner to assure debt recovery and initiates appropriate computer entries.Research payment discrepancies using the City’s computerized billing system and the actual cash.Organizes daily cashier work by opening safe; setting up cash drawer at workstation; balancing each day’s work; preparing daily summaries, and bank deposits.Provides account balance and payment information in response to customer inquiries, and other analysis work as necessary.Performs data entry of handwritten parking violations.Provides back up to the Mail & Print Clerk and the Data Processing Clerk. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Proven knowledge and proficiency in computer terminal entry systems is required.Proven proficiency in knowledge, understanding and use of the Microsoft (or similar) suite of tools (Word, and Excel, Outlook, or Lotus Notes) is required.Proven proficiency in performing basic math calculations including addition, subtraction, division and multiplication is required.Proven ability to work well under pressure and to maintain positive interactions is required. Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment is required.Proven ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English is required. Proven ability to work as part of a team and to collaborate successfully with others is required. Proven ability to adapt to new or changed situations and to show flexibility in making improvements in work processes and operations is required.Proven ability to maintain simple and accurate records.Proven ability to exhibit customer-centered behaviors and to focus on customer needs is required.Proven ability to commit to excellence in service and to continuous improvement is required.
