City of Lake Oswego is Hiring a Tennis Assistant for youth summer camps Near Oregon, OR

Act within a staff team as a Tennis Assistant in City of Lake Oswego Parks & Recreation's Youth Tennis Camps at a six-court, outdoorfacility.
  • This is a part-time, summer position for 9 weekly sessions; Monday-Friday; shift is typically from 8:00am-12:00pm. June 17 - August 16 (No camp July 4th & 5th)
  • This position typically works with the younger groups assisting the instructors.
  • The camp offers a fun environment of youth players to improve strokes, learn strategy, increase knowledge of rules and practice movement with games and drills. Campers are grouped with others of similar age and ability.
Minimum age: 16
POSITIONS OPEN UNTIL FILLED
  • Assist in creating a safe environment that emphasizes fun, positive growth and sportsmanship. 
  • Contribute to teaching age-appropriate skills and game instruction.
  • Take action to ensure safety at all times for the campers.
  • Assist the Tennis Instructor in providing efficient instruction that gives balanced attention to each participant.
  • Communicate professionally with participants, staff, parents and general public.
  • Work collaboratively with camp teaching staff.
  • Help set up and put away equipment.
  • Responsible for check-in and check-out of campers each day, with other staff. 
  • Minimum age: 16
  • Understanding and experience of tennis fundamentals.
  • Experience as a tennis player for a school team or other organized opportunity for tennis skill development and/or competition. 
  • Readiness to take initiative in a work setting. 
  • Experience working with youth in recreation/sports setting is a plus.
  • Must have proficient and professional verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to bring energy every day and motivate youth players.
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors exposed to environmental elements (i.e. direct sunlight, hot or cool temperatures).
In order to be considered for the position a resume is required, in addition to completing the on-line application and supplemental questions. This is a part-time, temporary position with approximately 20 hours per week.

Physical Requirements: Frequent repetitive motions including, but not limited to: arms, legs, hand, wrist and finger movements, reaching, standing, sitting, walking for extended lengths of time, running, speaking, hearing and seeing. Must be able to move objects up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 15 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Exposure to environmental elements (i.e. direct sunlight with hot or cool temperatures).
