The City of Kettering’s Award Winning Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is recruiting to fill a full-time Fitness Coordinator position. The Fitness Coordinator position is a supervisory position responsible for the overall operation of the Kettering Fitness & Wellness Center including budget development and maintenance, membership sales and related transactions, staffing, marketing, customer service, policies and procedures, communication with appropriate school personnel regarding facility closings and events, fitness and facility equipment and patron communication.

QUALIFICATIONS:Must have knowledge of modern fitness/wellness principles including ACSM exercise prescription and testing guidelines, fitness equipment usage and maintenance. Must be able to plan and promote a wide variety of fitness and wellness programs, activities and special events. Must have the ability to meet and associate with the public in a positive, enthusiastic and professional manner. Must show initiative, professional assertiveness and follow-through in assigned responsibilities. Experience in budget preparation and management desirable. Must have good organizational skills; a reputation for excellence in customer service; strong supervisory and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with all employees, city officials and the general public.

Personal training and/or health/fitness instructor certification(s) is preferred. A degree in Exercise Science or related field along with three to five years of management and industry experience (fitness instructing, health/fitness program development, fitness center operations, etc.) and one to three years supervisory experience is strongly preferred or any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

COMPENSATION:The salary range for this position is $18.80/hr. ($39,104/yr) to $24.95/hr. ($51,896/yr.); excellent benefits. Entry rate is contingent on candidate’s related skills, education, knowledge and abilities.
