City of Jacksonville Beach is Hiring a Tennis Court Attendant Near FL 32250, FL

JOB SUMMARY

This position performs responsible semi-skilled worker in the maintenance and operation of public tennis courts; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Tennis Facility Manager.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: 

  • Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. The amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.
  • Climbing: Ascending or descending terrain, ladders, stairs, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
  • Crawling: Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
  • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Manual Dexterity: Picking, pinching, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
  • Vocal Communication: Required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Hearing: Required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
  • Visual Acuity: Required for depth perception, color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme heat, noise, and hazards.

  • Cleans and maintains tennis courts and facilities, collects and accounts for fees, assists patrons.
  • Cleans courts of sand and debris. 
  • Maintains courts, nets, and windscreens.
  • Collects fees and membership dues; records and accounts for monies collected.
  • Delivers and deposits collections at close of courts.
  • Cleans shop and restrooms, sweeps, and mops floors. 
  • Picks up and disposes of trash.
  • Prepares and maintains membership records. 
  • Sells merchandise.
  • Maintains and updates notification sheets to reflect various facility programs throughout the year.
  • Maintains bulletin board information.
  • Assists customers with court bookings and maintains facility activity logs.
  • Teaches tennis lessons if assigned.
  • Performs related tasks as required.

Education and Experience:

A high school diploma or equivalent.
