City of Issaquah is Hiring a Temporary Event Operations Manager Near Issaquah, WA

Summary
The City of Issaquah has an exciting temporary opportunity to join a small and dynamic team as an Event Operations Manager. The City of Issaquah has long recognized parks and community services as an integral part of the city and essential to the quality of life of its residents.
The Event Operations Manager is a part of our Event and Rentals team. This position oversees and provides assistance to a variety of special events held at City-owned facilities, including weddings, conference, private events and the Issaquah Farmers Market. Work involves supporting facility event bookings, maintaining record systems, computer software utilization and staff leadership. Must provide excellent customer service and have a passion for enabling other’s success. Under the supervision of the Event Operations Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for performing detailed clerical work, creative problem-solving and excellent organizational skills. The incumbent must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to respond to customers who may be upset or under stress. Candidate must be a strong team player who demonstrates drive and initiative.
To accommodate rental booking, the typical schedule for this position will be Tuesday – Saturday. Weekday hours are typically 10:30 am – 7:00 pm and Saturday hours vary between 6:00 am – 6:00 pm on Saturdays. This is position will receive PERS retirement benefits through the Washington State Retirement System.

  • Provide clients with facility booking information, focusing on Pickering Barn rentals. Provide facility tours, schedule and lead appointments and open houses, detailed email follow up, updates and respond to and public inquiries by telephone and email. 
  • Provide assistance with verbal and written correspondence, appointment scheduling, contracting, invoicing, financial reporting, data collection, and statistical reporting. 
  • In the absence of Farmers Market Manager, provide high level support to the Farmers Market Program, as needed. 
  • Oversee Modified Access for rental clients on Farmers Market Saturdays and support clients with modified access instructions and questions. 
  • Provide leadership & direction to part-time non-regular staff; serve as on-site lead during events; make decisions within scope of authority and contact supervisor or manager for decisions outside of scope. 
  • Able to diffuse conflict effectively when necessary. 
  • Able to provide high efficiency, proactive support with the ability to adjust direction in response to shifting priorities. 
  • Must have a strong attention to detail and the ability to self-direct. 
  • Provide on-site leadership at Pickering Barn events which includes managing the event from start to finish. 
  • Assist with event set-up and tear-down, including staging tables and chairs, AV equipment and performing necessary custodial duties. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned; duties include but are not limited to event, trash removal, restocking of supplies, restroom cleaning, facility clean-up, lock-up and facility repair requests.
  • Graduation from high school (or GED) required 
  • Two years of work experience related to event planning, hospitality, or office management, 
  • Or any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job. 
 
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION 
Valid Washington State Driver’s License with driving record free of serious or frequent violationsKnowledge of:
  • Practices related to Parks programming and services.
  • First aid and safety practices.
  • Effective instructional methods and techniques.
