This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the overall camp program and approves all daily camp activities as approved by the Director of Recreation. He/she is responsible for communicating with parents, guardians, and other camp staff during and after camp hours of operation. The Camp Director is responsible for the care, safety, protection, and supervision of the camp environments, staff, and participants. The planning, preparation, and organization of daily activities and site (set-up/clean-up), as well as all administrative duties of camp, are requirements of the camp director.Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Oversees the development of the program, plans and implements all camp activities, including weekly trips and special activities and/or assignments with approval from the Director of Recreation. 
• Orienting, monitoring, and leading children in various activities Leading children and counselors through the day-to-day operation of camp, including set up and cleanup of equipment and supplies for camp activities.
• Supervising and leading various activities, games and crafts for campers 
• Enforcing rules and regulations 
• Monitoring camp staff work hours and completing and submitting time sheets. Monitors attendance 
• Providing first aid treatment as necessary 
• Ensuring all attendance and camp records are completed 
• Supervising camp staff, interaction with parents and paperwork completion, including weekly reports 
• Participating in staff and program evaluation 
• Reporting and appropriately dealing with discipline problems, accidents, and other incidents 
• Communicating all issues and concerns with Program Supervisor

Typical Qualifications: 
Education Required: Successful completion of 2 years College, preferably in Recreation, Physical Education, Elementary Education or related discipline desired; High School Graduation and sufficient experience working with youth may be substituted
Additional Qualifications:
Ability to direct and actively participate in activities with 10 to 15 active children between 5-14 years old; must be an experience and active swimmer; Ability to communicate clear and concisely work with campers, staff, parents, and general public; Leadership skills to include the ability to inspire confidence and enthusiasm to the recreation staff, participants, and parents; Ability to make mature decisions affecting the safety and well-being of children; Skilled and active participation in varied sports/recreation activities such as bowling, skating, field games, etc.Must be present during camp session entirety, beginning June 3rd to July 26th.
