City of Hammond is Hiring a Summer Camp Counselor Near Hammond, LA
Camp Dates are June 3, 2024 through July 26, 2024Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with organization, planning, leading and teaching of one or more activity classes of the camping program including: nature study, arts and crafts, sports, games, music, special features, events or field trips
- Acting as advisor, counselor, and go to person for the group of participants
- Communicating, enforcing, and adhering to rules and regulations for operation, safety and welfare of participants
- Reporting to supervisor on activities, participants, plans, programs, problems and needs: recommending action, carrying our policies and objectives of programs
- Maintaining appropriate records, inventories, making reports
- Successful completion of 2 years College, preferably in Recreation, Physical Education, Elementary Education or related discipline desired; High School Graduation and sufficient experience working with youth may be substituted
- Ability to direct and actively participate in activities with 10 to 15 active children between 5-14 years old; must be an experience and active swimmer; Ability to communicate clear and concisely work with campers, staff, parents, and general public.
- Leadership skills to include the ability to inspire confidence and enthusiasm to the recreation staff, participants, and parents; Ability to make mature decisions affecting the safety and well-being of children; Skilled and active participation in varied sports/recreation activities such as bowling, skating, field games, etc.
