Compensation and Benefits: Hiring Salary Range : $108,575. - $124,086.

DESCRIPTION AND TYPICAL DUTIES: The Operations Manager manages all the compliance, operation, maintenance and repair activities of the Operations Division through 171 full time and 8 roster positions that are responsible for the distribution of potable drinking water, metering services and the collection of sanitary sewer including pumping, right of way maintenance and odor control. Prepares and recommends the adoption of the Operations Capital and Operating Budget in conjunction with the Assistant Director. The Operations manager also participates on many regional and state initiatives relating to the provision of water and wastewater services.
The selected candidate must have the ability to represent the City effectively with public officials, internal and external customers in a courteous and positive manner; Ability to exercise responsibility, proper judgment, and provide clear communications in decision making encompassing the City's core values that reflect the best interest of the City.
This job is Exempt and is not subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree
- "OR" an equivalency of an Associate's Degree and 8 years of related utility construction experience
- "OR" High School Diploma and 12 years of related utility construction experience
- 7 years of utility construction experience
- Certification in at least one of the following - Wastewater Collection (IV), Water Distribution (A), Engineering (PE) or Wastewater Operator (III or IV), Water Operator (B or A)
An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications) : - Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Physical Science, Natural Science, Environmental, Engineering, or similar.
- 7 years of experience supervising and evaluating the work of personnel
- Experienced in applying, and interpreting applicable Federal, State and Local rules and regulations
- Skilled in planning and directing a comprehensive water distribution and/or wastewater service provision program
- Financial (budgeting) and management experience
- Effective verbal and written communication strategies both internal and external including technical
