General Description
Public Works has an exciting new opportunity - Facilities Engineering Technician! This position will perform technical engineering/architectural work on facilities projects including contract document creation, bidding, and construction administration.
Hiring Rate: $32.03 per hour Work Schedule: Monday-Friday. 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Ask us about our summer hours! No residency requirement. Examples of Duties
Prepares routine engineering/architectural studies and reports, contract specifications, quantity estimate, and contract payments.
Develops construction documents for facility maintenance and improvement projects.
Inspects Facilities construction projects ranging from basic to advanced projects for compliance with the plans and specifications, and other applicable codes. Projects inspected may include HVAC, lighting, plumbing, architectural, underground utilities, pavement, etc.
Performs manual and ACAD drafting assignments. Design projects may include commercial roof (EPDM, metal, asphalt shingles), storage building construction, masonry repairs, door and window replacement, flooring, façade repairs, ceiling repairs, painting and coatings projects, cabinetry, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required
Associate degree in Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent.
Five years related experience.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
A combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of the principles, practices and materials of building construction. Knowledge of architectural and engineering principles and practices related to construction projects.
Good computer skills including experience with ACAD, word processing and spreadsheet software. Good record keeping and problem-solving skills. Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Ability to utilize a computer and the required software. Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and members of the public and private sector. Ability to work the required hours of the position.
