City of Grapevine, TX is Hiring a Lead Lifeguard Near Grapevine, TX

Job Summary

Assists with supervising operations related to maintenance, aquatic programs, special events, and personnel of the designated facility. In addition, the Lead Lifeguard will work cohesively with Aquatic Coordinators to develop the strategies leading to the accomplishment of division goals.

Essential Functions

1. Determines and enforces safety measures, rules, and regulations in and around the pool to ensure the personal safety of the facility users.

2. Assists in maintaining the aquatic facility including opening and closing checklists and the daily testing and documenting of pool chemicals and maintenance when on duty.

3. Assists front desk as needed. Greets the public, provides information and assistance regarding schedules, registration, program descriptions, and other general pool information over the phone and in person. May collect fees, prepare bank deposits, and department records and reports when working front desk.

4. Plans and attends regular in-service training, evaluate, and give instructions to lifeguards to improve techniques and perform skill audits.

5. Supervises the activities and gives direction to the staff to accomplish daily activities, goals, and departmental objectives. Serves as the facility supervisor when supervisors are off duty.

6. Assists in the scheduling of part-time and casual staff.

7. Cover various shifts at Dove Waterpark and Pleasant Glade Pool during the summer if needed.

8. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.

9. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.

10. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers, and others in the course of daily work.

Required Skills

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Must be able to work flexible schedule, some early mornings, nights, and weekends.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in an emergency situation.
  • Ability to deal effectively with the public and possess an outstanding customer service attitude.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative-working relationships with employees and those contacted in the course of work.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Requires high school diploma or GED.

No lifeguarding experience required.

American Red Cross Lifeguard OR Shallow Water Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required prior to date of hire. Certifications must be maintained during employment.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor and Emergency Oxygen is preferred.

Must have strong customer service skills and excellent hospitality skills, ability to work any day of the week (weekends & weekdays), long hours, and stand for extended periods of time.

Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check, credit check, and have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.

Must pass a pre-employment basic physical, drug screen, and functional assessment screening (Level 2).

Safety equipment such as gloves, goggles, face shields, respirators, chemical aprons, hard hats, safety vests, steel-toe boots, back support belts, seat belts, and other necessary safety equipment are provided and must be worn as required by department procedures and good safety practices.
