The Golden Parks and Recreation Department is a CAPRA Accredited Parks and Recreation Department and most recently received the Gold Medal Award from the National Recreation & Parks Association (NRPA).
We are looking for qualified candidates to teach Fitness classes at our Community Center: "Providing Memorable Recreation Experiences for Our Community" This position will teach a variety of fitness classes to youth, adults and seniors.

We have Silver Sneaker classes Monday-Friday mid mornings that need instructors. Multiple class times and days available to sub for other formats also. 1-5 hours a week.

Schedule varies with 1-5hrs per week, options for early mornings, midday, evenings, and weekends.

Teaches classes in specific areas of expertise- Cycling. Coordinates and prepares music and choreography of class routines as necessary.

Assist the Recreation Supervisor – Wellness and General Programs with the evaluation of the program by providing feedback and recommendations for class/program improvement.

Handles and reports to the Recreation Supervisor any problems, concerns, or emergencies that arise during their classes.

Exercises safety awareness and practices.

Responsible for set-up and take down of equipment when applicable.

Responsible for securing a substitute when unable to work assigned class.

Follows and enforces all department policies, rules, and regulations while maintaining a friendly and professional attitude.

Other duties may be assigned.

Must be at least 18 years of age by date of hire. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain w/in 30 days of hire. All Aerobic Instructors must possess a current certification by a national accredited fitness-testing agency.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must have excellent customer service skills. Ability to make sound decisions and use good judgment during stressful situations.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
 
REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
 
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be self-motivated and must work well independently. Ability to work well with people of all ages and abilities. Provides positive, fun, and safe experiences to the class participants. 
 
MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
Mats, free weights, xertubes, steps, fitballs, bars, tape player, CD player, headset, and microphone system.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and distance vision.

Work environment is primarily in an indoor setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
