CITY OF GOLDEN is Hiring an Administrative Specialist - Human Resources Near Golden, CO

Under the general supervision of the HR Manager, this position provides a variety of detailed and confidential administrative and technical support of the Human Resource department, and will be involved in supporting the hiring process. Assists with personnel-related data entry, file maintenance, administrative support, and special project support as assigned. This position requires a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality. Empathetic, collaborative, and professional communication skills are a must.

This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week with a schedule between the hours of 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with some flexibility around the specific breakdown of hours/days. 

Human Resource/Administrative Functions

  • Supports the recruitment and hiring process, including posting jobs, referrals of applications to hiring managers, ordering background checks, tracking candidate statuses, and communication with candidates and hiring managers. 
  • Performs data entry and maintenance of personnel records and files ensuring accuracy of information.
  • Ensures appropriate security and confidentiality of employee information and records.
  • Maintains HR files, correspondence and other materials; files all correspondence and other records in a timely manner.
  • Other administrative/HR duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum three (3) years responsible administrative support experience. Direct Human Resources experience strongly preferred. Must have exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Strong proficiency in MS Office, including Outlook, Teams, and Excel required. NeoGov experience preferred. Municipal government experience a plus.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver's license with safe driving record.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to deal with diverse population groups and exhibit strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to read and interpret personnel policies and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, supervisors, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with practical problems involving a variety of concrete variables where limited standardization may exist. Ability to use independent judgment in most situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Outstanding customer service and interpersonal communication skills. Exceptionally accurate data entry skills and attention to detail are required. Must possess excellent written communication skills; business writing skills, principles, and procedures of record keeping. Ability to set priorities and organize work. Flexibility, confidentiality, and the ability to work independently.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and citizens; and to handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.

Ability to apply strong computer and Internet research skills. Demonstrated computer skills with intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office including Outlook, Word and Excel. Ability to learn software required for the position.

Ability to multi-task and interact in a dynamic environment using independent judgment and personal initiative. Ability to exercise independent judgment in absence of supervision.

Ability to understand basic principles and procedures of human resource/personnel administration; applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
Ability to operate all general office equipment including computer, printer, copier, fax, and phones.
